Jeuveau vs Botox: what first-time patients in Oklahoma should know

If you have been searching for Botox in Mustang or the Oklahoma City metro, you have probably noticed a newer name showing up next to it: Jeuveau. At The Aesthetics Place MedSpa, Jeuveau is the wrinkle relaxer we use, and first-time patients ask about the difference almost every week. Here is the plain-language version.

Same family, different product

Botox and Jeuveau are both neuromodulators. Each is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A that temporarily relaxes the small muscles responsible for expression lines. Botox Cosmetic has been on the market the longest, which is why people use its name for the whole category, the same way people say Kleenex for tissue.

Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs) was approved by the FDA in 2019 for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults. It was developed specifically for aesthetics, which is how it picked up the nickname "Newtox."

What treatment feels like

A Jeuveau appointment is quick. After a conversation about what bothers you and what you want to keep, Tanja places a series of small injections with a very fine needle. Most people describe it as a brief pinch. There is no real downtime, though you will get simple aftercare instructions, such as staying upright for a few hours and skipping a hard workout that day.

When you will see results and how long they last

• Many patients start to notice softening within a few days

• Full results typically show at around two weeks

• Results commonly last three to four months, then gradually fade
  

Everyone metabolizes neuromodulators a little differently, so your timeline may be shorter or longer. We schedule a follow-up so your plan can be adjusted rather than guessed at.

Will I look frozen?

Not if it is done thoughtfully. The goal is a rested version of you, not a different face. Tanja Pittman, DNP, APRN, CNP performs every injection personally, and the word clients use most often about her technique is meticulous. Dosing is conservative at a first visit because it is easy to add and impossible to take away.

What Jeuveau costs

Jeuveau is priced per unit, with member rates as low as $10.50 per unit. The number of units depends on the area treated and the strength of your muscles, so you will get an exact quote at your consultation. We also participate in Evolus Rewards, which can lower the cost of qualifying treatments.

Who should wait

Neuromodulators are not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an infection at the injection site, or have certain neuromuscular conditions. Tanja reviews your health history before any treatment.
