Chemical Peels at TAP MedSpa Mustang Oklahoma — Complete Guide

Chemical peels remain one of the most effective and versatile treatments in medical aesthetics — capable of addressing sun damage, uneven skin tone, acne and acne scarring, fine lines, and overall skin quality with results that are difficult to replicate through skincare products alone. At The Aesthetics Place MedSpa in Mustang Oklahoma, Tanja Pittman DNP APRN performs chemical peels customized to each client’s skin type, concern, and tolerance for downtime.

WHAT IS A CHEMICAL PEEL?

A chemical peel applies a precisely formulated acid solution to the skin to induce controlled exfoliation. As the treated skin sheds, it is replaced by new skin that is smoother, more evenly pigmented, and with improved texture. The depth of the peel — superficial, medium, or deep — determines the intensity of the treatment, the magnitude of results, and the amount of downtime involved.

SUPERFICIAL PEELS

Superficial peels use mild acids such as glycolic acid, lactic acid, or low-concentration salicylic acid to exfoliate the outermost layer of skin. They are appropriate for mild texture irregularities, early sun damage, dullness, and mild acne. Downtime is minimal — typically light flaking for 2 to 3 days. A series of superficial peels spaced several weeks apart produces cumulative improvement and is a popular maintenance option for clients who cannot afford significant downtime.

MEDIUM-DEPTH PEELS

Medium-depth peels — including TCA (trichloroacetic acid) peels — penetrate into the upper dermis and produce more significant results for moderate sun damage, uneven pigmentation, acne scarring, and fine lines. Downtime is typically 5 to 7 days of visible peeling and redness. The results from a single medium-depth peel are meaningfully more dramatic than a series of superficial peels and can last 1 to 2 years with appropriate sun protection.

WHAT SKIN CONCERNS DO CHEMICAL PEELS TREAT?

Chemical peels at TAP MedSpa can address sun damage and hyperpigmentation, melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne, active acne and clogged pores, acne scarring, fine lines and early skin laxity, rough or uneven skin texture, and dullness or sallow skin tone. Tanja evaluates each client’s skin at consultation to determine which peel type and depth will produce the best results for their specific concerns.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR CHEMICAL PEEL APPOINTMENT

Tanja will cleanse your skin and apply a prepping solution before the peel. The chemical solution is applied and you may feel mild warmth or tingling — most clients tolerate this well. The peel is neutralized and removed at the appropriate time. Post-peel care instructions are provided and followed closely — particularly avoiding sun exposure and using gentle, non-active skincare during the healing period.

IS A CHEMICAL PEEL RIGHT FOR YOU?

Chemical peels are not appropriate for all skin types and conditions. Active cold sores, certain medications including isotretinoin, and some skin conditions may be contraindications. Tanja reviews your full skin and health history at consultation to confirm appropriateness and select the right peel.
